08:08 am - Electric Slide not allowed?
Bullshit. Here is more of the e-mail contact I've had with Mr. Ric-Ass Silver. Ric's reply is shown below along with my response below. I'm taking the reasoning approach. One more and I might get mean again, lol!

No one wants to pay you $100 to teach this dance. Instead
they'll teach something else. Who wants to do that? Young
people would never be taught the dance. It would eventually
spell the end of The Electric Slide from mainstream American
dance. Then you wouldn't be able to get any money for it!

I don't get it. Why would you want to stop people from
enjoying themselves freely. I'm here to promote the
enjoyment of dance, not make money from it.

> No - but you are teaching it
> and it is illegal for you to teach it without getting my
> permission and without paying the $100.00 fee

10:06 am - UAH Dance Club gets sued?
This post is in reference to another post I made around February 8th, 2006. In it, I describe how Mr. Ric Silver threatened to sue me and the UAH Dance Club for having taught The Electric Slide. Please read that post first.

Here posted below is my response to him along with his original e-mail below that. So far, nothing has happened on his end in response to my response. Bastard.

Tonini Out!

>>

Dear Ric,
I received your letter stating that it is illegal for me to post instructions on how to dance The Electric Slide. I am e-mailing you to get my point across directly!

Nowhere on my website (http://www.uah.edu/danceclub) does it give choreography instruction on The Electric Slide. It simply states that "The Electric Slide" will be taught on January 20th, 2006. No choreography is posted.

Your e-mail says you took a look at my website and "after viewing your site I have found that it - as most of the sites I have visited - have an incorrect version of my choreography." How about you the human, instead of some search and e-mail script routine, actually take a detailed look at my website before you send me this erroneous e-mail and waste my valuable time.

On top of the absence of choreography, if you took a look at our website you would have realized that the lesson was free and we would not have made ANY profit, moron!

I will not be bothered by the likes of you. You are only out to get undeserved monetary benefit.

The Electric Slide is one of the most common club and community dances in America. Any Joe Schmo knows it and can give instruction to his friends on this dance. That is what we did. How can you possibly copyright that act and try to enforce it? It is a Standard Social Dance.

If anything, I'm helping you out because now more people will know what the Electric Slide is, so what is the issue here?

We are a non-profit university club. We exist simply to promote the enjoyment of dancing to the students of UAH and the people of the surrounding community. If you sue us, then you sue every single member of our organization--and there are many--and most of all the entire University of Alabama in Huntsville. Is that really something you want to take on?

This is ridiculous! You are ridiculous! In all honesty, with all the errors you have made in contacting me and reading over your website, this must be a hoax.

Dancing is an act, not a business. I refuse to be taken down by your big-business methods.

GO BOTHER SOMEONE ELSE!

Not respectfully,
Ryan Tonini

To Ashley: I Love you!!!

To jaralith: You said "Hopeless" was a Waltz. Who is the artist?

To alora152: I called Linda and she told me the UC has reduced hours over the summer. Our only option would be a mid afternoon/early evening dance as the UC closes at 6pm. Perhaps we should look for another venue such as KOC Hall.

To all: Pictures of the house can be found here.

08:32 am - Long, Long Time for an update
Who would be interested in a UAH Dance Club summer dance? Say July 4th weekend or third Friday in July...

Blue Shocker is officially parked. I surpassed 246,000 miles yesterday, the insurance expired, and it needs more go-go juice. I suppose it should be retired. ... OK, I just really don't wanna fork up the insurance bill for 6 more months! It is only 107 dollars (sad indeed), but I have Maddy Mustang to drive too!

Good Golly Miss Molly Gas Prices Are High. I love that the gas stations, after the price per barrel (ppb) goes up, raise prices as soon as they can, yet it takes them two weeks to lower their prices when ppb goes down.

Fuckers.

Why the fuck are we so dependent on gasoline--we shoulda seen this coming years ago. Oops, just a sec...let's remember Bush is a puppy dog to the oil companies and they need profits so they can invest them in alternative fuels like Bush said last week, right? Horse-shit.

I'm moving into a house, with five other people. This will be only slightly interesting. ;-) Ashley and I are sharing the basement. Yay! I'm excited! I didn't realize how much crap I have. I've thrown away quite a bit of stuff. I still have a little more at Mom's b/f my old room is empty. At least my new room is free of dust! I have my computer right under the window in my room. I'm going to install one of the Dance Club fans in the window to help with the dust the computer creates. How sad is that?

Happy dancing!

04:28 pm - Update
wOw! It's been a long time since an update. Well here is a little diddie.

I went to Ashley's parents house for the superbowl. A bunch of people came over. We told her mom that we were moving into a house together after finals. She took it surprisingly well. Phew! I told my mom last night, and she actually didn't get hysterical--a nice surprise. Ashley, I love you! Poor baby, she has three tests this week. Here's hoping your tests go as well as telling our parents about moving in.

I hate my mother. I hate people that hold grudges. I hate liars. There are very few good people in the world these days. I pick my friends very carefully.

School is great these days. I'm taking 16 hours and I'm actually able to keep up. I'm in Florence this weekend at Kassey's house with Ashley. Got in the pool. YaYx2! Look me up in the Honors Lounge on Tuesday and Thursday nights if you wanna drop in...

Hokay, the October workshop is definitely out. No way that is going to happen. Would you guys like to go after a November workshop on Swing and Street Swing and move the Novemeber dance focus from samba to swing and move samba over to Oct?

As far as the Oct and Apr dances, those occur during FallFest and SpringFest respectively. However, I've been in contact with ACE and BSA trying to work something up. You see, they had already been planning some kind of dance on those dates, so it works out well for us!!! ;-) heeh, heeh. Anyhoo, I'll keep y'all updated..

I'm at the beach right now. First time I've stayed for any length of time down here since Ivan. wOOt!

02:51 pm - UAH Ballroom Dance Club tentative schedule
This pertains mainly to [info]alora152 and [info]jaralith but any of your comments are welcome.

This is the schedule of dance events for 05-06 for the UAH Ballroom Dance Club. Any objections? I also would take suggestions on which dance type to focus on for that month (which would include a 30 min lesson in it before the dance and a 3 hour workshop if applicable)

There are 3 workshops, 7 lessons and 8 dances as follows (7 of which will be recorded music, 1 with a live band):

16 Sep 05 7pm-1030pm - lesson & dance (Cha-Cha)

15 Oct 05 1pm-4pm - workshop (Foxtrot and Swing)
21 Oct 05 7pm-1030pm - lesson & dance (Swing)

18 Nov 05 7pm-1030pm - lesson & dance (Samba)

2 Dec 05 7pm-1030pm - dance only (band TBD)

20 Jan 05 7pm-1030pm - lesson & dance (Electric Slide (Cha-Cha Slide too!))

11 Feb 05 1pm-4pm - workshop (Mambo & Bolero)
17 Feb 05 7pm-1030pm - lesson & dance (Bolero)

17 Mar 05 7pm-1030pm - lesson & dance (??)

15 Apr 05 1pm-4pm - workshop (??)
21 Apr 05 7pm-1030pm - lesson & dance (??)

As far as the band goes, I would like to get either Patton James and the Synchromatics (Swing) or Mambo Gris Gris (Latin) to come play for us. Any objections? Also, for the recorded music nights, I'll DJ the dance. However, for varieties sake, I might bring in DJ Dave Ellington or DJ Tropical once or twice.

I'm not much of a decorator, so I will leave that up to ya'll, but there really hasn't much of that done in the past, fyi.

I'd like to get this as ironed out as possible now, so that we won't have any big surprises this year.
